================================================================================= "Time lags and reverberation in the lamp-post geometry of the compact corona illuminating a black-hole accretion disc in AGN" Dr. Michal Dovciak Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic ================================================================================= When: Friday, 30 May 2014 at 2:00 pm Where: 2nd Floor Seminar Room ================================================================================= The X-ray reverberation mapping of the inner parts of the accretion disc might be used to distinguish between different geometries of the X-ray source, compact or extended, or to measure the properties of the central super-massive black hole, especially its spin. In this talk I will summarize the basic concept of reverberation with the help of the toy model in the lamp-post geometry of a compact X-ray source. The results for an accretion disc response to a short flare on the axis above the black hole will be shown for different model parameters such as the height of the corona, mass and spin of the black hole. The influence of these parameters on the measured time lags will be discussed.
