"Accreting Circumnuclear Gas in Seyfert AGN: Insights from X-ray Spectroscopy"

Abstract:

I will review recent insights gained via broadband X-ray spectroscopy
of bright, low-redshift Seyfert AGN, concentrating on results from
monitoring programs with the recently-ended Rossi X-ray Timing
Explorer mission. The results provide geometrical constraints on
circumnuclear accreting and reflecting gas around supermassive black
holes, and constraints for a new generation of unification models. I
will also discuss results on AGNs' black hole spins obtained with the
Suzaku X-ray observatory.
